Hi, my name is Kim. I’m a 38 year old living in Ormond Beach, FL with my boyfriend Dane. I’ve lived in Florida for 10 years after growing up and spending 28 years north of Chicago. I’m a huge sports fan. My favorite teams are the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Florida Gators.
We have 2 cats named Teagan and Wrigley. (Teagan is black, gray and white and Wrigley is orange)
I wasn’t an overweight child or even a teenager. I was always involved in sports whether it be volleyball, basketball or softball. I started to notice a considerable weight gain when I was 20 years old – when I discovered beer/alcohol and all of the unhealthy food cravings that came along with it. My breaking point was 200.6 lbs. I knew I was overweight but never expected to see a number that started with “2.”
Throughout the years I’ve tried many different weight loss methods, including: Weight Watchers, low carb, no meat and tracking calories. I realized that none of these “programs” worked for me because I wasn’t changing my relationship with food. Even if I tracked all my calories or counted all of my points and stayed within goal, that didn’t mean that I was eating foods that were good for my body. When I wasn’t eating meat, I never felt like I had enough energy and I found myself overeating carbs. Of course everyone is different and what works for you, might not work for me and vice versa.
After only 2 weeks of following the Whole30 program, I’ve decided that I will continue to follow the Paleo diet (most of the time). Eating this way has made me feel better physically and mentally. I no longer think about food all day long and I’m not being consumed by constant sugar cravings. If you’d like to read my Whole30 posts, you can find them here.
Since finishing Whole30, I decided to continue sharing my daily eats to help keep me on track.
