One thing I’ve struggled with over the last couple of years is getting into a regular exercise routine. Even if I found an activity that I enjoyed, something would come along and derail me and that was it. There were weeks at a time where I wouldn’t even go for a walk. I spent a whole lot of time coming up with different plans and talking about them here.
In the past 2 weeks, I’ve moved my body more than I have in 20 years. Yep, it’s been that long since I was in high school. Gulp. I was always playing a sport or running around doing something then…and I thought I was fat.
I’m in the top right corner of this volleyball team picture. I had a lot more hair then, too. :)
I was hesitant to even meet with my trainer for the first time because I doubted that I could even keep up. I can’t do push ups, I run really SLOW and it doesn’t take long for me to be completely winded.
I found out quickly that I was wrong. I could do a lot more that I thought I could and I get pushed more than I would ever push myself. I can’t even count how many times I got up before 5:00am to hit the gym only to walk on the treadmill. I’m not saying that walking isn’t good exercise because I will always love walking but I wasn’t using my time wisely and I was working to my full potential.
It almost felt weird to take a rest day this week even though I knew it was necessary.
Kim was able to take a few pictures at the end of my workout last night.
It feels good to be moving again and not constantly dwelling on that number on the scale. There hasn’t been a day that I haven’t been a least a little bit sore but it’s a great reminder that I’m working on it. Lots of work to do but I can see a difference after 2 weeks, so I’m excited to see what the future holds.
