Dane and I headed out for our first morning run since we’ve been doing Couch to 5k on Sunday. My weather app said it was 73 degrees which seemed a whole lot better than the mid to high 80′s we’ve been running in after work. For some reason, it didn’t feel any cooler. There wasn’t a breeze and the sun was right next to us on our way to the path that we run on.
I made it about 5 minutes until my calves felt like they were going to bust out of the skin. My initial thought when I woke up was that I should probably take a rest day since I worked my butt off during the week but I didn’t want to put off running another day either. I stretched for a couple of minutes and felt like I could continue. During the second 8 minute run I stopped again and blamed it on my body being exhausted. Dane went ahead and finished the last 4 minutes and told me he would meet me at the end. I ended up running (slowly) after all. This sums up how I was feeling after.

I bought Dane a Polar heart rate monitor for his birthday. Here are both of ours after our run and an extra 2 mile walk.

Once again our app is all over the place with the pace. Definitely not correct.
I’m not feeling 100% ready for Week 5 Day 3 (20 minutes straight) but I’ve done it before, so I know I can do it again. I worked out with my trainer last night and am taking a much needed rest day today. I’ll continue with C25K again on Thursday.
In the last week I busted my butt more than I have in the 2.5 years I’ve been trying to lose weight. Being pushed by my trainer, sticking to the Couch to 5k plan and having Dane by my side have made such a big difference. I love leaving the gym knowing that I gave it all I had. I haven’t even stepped on the scale all week! Love that I’m not letting that thing control my emotions.
