What’s Beautiful: I Can Do It

I mentioned in my post yesterday that I’ve had the urge to run ever since I confessed on the blog that “I’m not a runner.”  It’s second nature for me to tell anyone else, “You can do it” but when it comes to myself, it’s not that easy.  It’s a constant battle to convince myself that I can do something.

That may be the reason I keep coming back to running.  Whether it’s true or not, I keep telling myself that I can’t do it or I’m just not a runner.

I documented my last attempt at Couch to 5k here.  Kim and I were doing great until I found out I had to have surgery.  That was my ticket out and I haven’t looked back since.  I was so set on finally completing the program and I didn’t do it.

When I recently received an e-mail notifying me that I was going to participate in an AWESOME campaign with some other FitFluential Ambassadors and Under Armour, I knew this was my chance to prove myself wrong.

Under Armour’s What’s Beautiful campaign requires us to set a goal and then do everything in our power to reach it.

My personal goal is to finally complete the Couch to 5k program and run a 5k without walking.

Yes, I am eating my words.  I can do it, right?  The good news is, you can participate in this challenge as well.  Pick a goal, any goal.  It doesn’t have to be running related.  It can be anything from walking more to gaining more confidence or perhaps you’re an excellent runner and are looking to PR in half marathon or full marathon?  The most important thing is, don’t compare your goals to anyone else.  We’re all at different places in our fitness journey, so do what works for you.

The point of this campaign is to push yourself, have faith in yourself and prove to other women that they can do it, too.

Together we’re redefining the female athlete by setting epic goals and pushing past where we’ve ever been and where we thought we could go. Join us. Set your own personal goal. Then document your journey by posting videos and photos that tell your story from start to victory.

We’ll continuously post challenges for you. But that’s just the beginning. Show us your journey. Show us what makes your story the one that stands out from the rest. If you meet your goal, set a new one. Make it even bigger. Prove to everyone, and yourself, that you have more than what it takes.

Every week we’ll give away Under Armour Swag Bags full of gear to women who are seriously getting it. We’ll also feature profiles on our home page and in the “Top Performers” section of women who are really setting an example for all of us.

Three winners will receive a trip to Costa Rica for a 4 day retreat.
