Whole30 – Day 14

Two weeks down!! Can you believe it?  I’m sure you’re thinking – Yes, it feels like you’ve been talking about Whole30 for a lot longer than that.  :)

You know when you try something new and you end up feeling really good about it?  You want to tell the world about it.  You want everyone to get the same feeling you have.  If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know that I’ve experimented quite a bit.  Weight Watchers (several times), low carb, no meat, tracking on MyFitnessPal and I’m sure there are more I’m forgetting about.

Eating this way has made me feel really good.  Here are a few things I’m noticing at the half way point.

  • I’m not obsessing about the scale.  (I haven’t weighed since Day 1)
  • I’m not obsessing about food.
  • My clothes are fitting better.
  • I’m not feeling deprived.
  • I’ve always been a pretty good sleeper but I wake up feeling refreshed now.
  • In order to not get bored, we’re trying foods that we haven’t tried before.
  • My entire body is less “puffy.”
  • I can make it from breakfast to lunch without snacking and I’m not starving when lunch time rolls around.
  • My mind feels more clear.  I don’t ever feel like I’m walking around in a fog.

Those are just some of the things that come to mind.  Basically, I’m feeling really good and can’t wait to see what the next 2 weeks have in store for us.

Breakfast

IMG_15822 eggs over easy, sweet potato, apple and onion hash, bacon and berries.  We added blackberries to the mix and they were so good!

After breakfast, Dane and I spent the majority of the morning cleaning the house.

Lunch

IMG_1587Leftover burger with onions & mushrooms, avocado, brussels sprouts slaw and jicama.  This was my first time trying jicama and it was pretty good.  If you haven’t had it before the texture is similar to a raw potato but it has a touch of sweetness.

After lunch, I met Kim at the gym for arms day.

IMG_1588On the way home, we stopped to check out a park that’s been being built right near the gym.

IMG_1593I’m definitely seeing some weekend beach days after a workout in our future.

Dinner

IMG_1603Spaghetti squash, homemade sauce and turkey sausage meatballs,  Dane made the meatballs using ground turkey and spices.  This was a delicious meal and I didn’t even miss the garlic bread.  ;)

We also had a side salad.

After dinner, I curled up on the couch to read more of Practical Paleo.  I don’t think Teagan was feeling great after his shots the day before, so he was my little snuggle bug all night.

The best thing the paleo diet has done for me has changed my relationship with food. I used to think about every meal all the time. I’d obsess over calories and then binge on junk. It was terrible. I don’t do that at all anymore! Everything looks yummy! I love your instagram!

Thank you! :) I would obsess about it as well. It’s only been 15 days and I already feel so different about it.

P.S. your pancakes look great. I’m going to have to try them when Whole30 is over!
