38

Yesterday was my 38th Birthday!  Sounds kinda crazy to say that because I remember 38 sounding so old when my parents were that age.  :)

Dane and I started celebrating over the weekend with our friends Marc and Shelly.  On Saturday, we headed to Orlando to check out Sea World on a picture perfect day weather wise.

Once we got into the park, we stopped to see the sting rays.  I think you can pay to feed them, too but we didn’t do that.

And then we saw a ton of dolphin.  They are so beautiful.

After the dolphins, I was getting extremely hungry.  I hadn’t eaten in almost 7 hours, which never happens.  I did notice that Sea World sold Weight Watchers ice cream bars.

At that time, I didn’t want ice cream, I wanted real food.  We settled on a BBQ place where I ordered the brisket platter.  It was gross.  I didn’t even take a picture of it.

After lunch, we ran into the flamingos.  I don’t think I ever realized they slept this way.

And some of them were just standing there on one leg.

After the sharks we went to check out the Sea Lion & Otter show.

They brought that walrus out at the end.  It was HUGE!

Next, we were off to see Shamu.

Ever since the accident at Sea World a couple of years ago, none of the trainers actually swim in the water with the whales anymore.

After Shamu, Dane and I rode both of the roller coasters, which was awesome!  We even rode one of them twice.  The park was pretty packed but the wait for the roller coasters was minimal.

Then we decided to head out.

We had a hotel room near Downtown Disney, so after checking in and changing clothes we walked over to Raglan Road.

We sat outside for dinner.  It was a bit chilly but they had these heaters set up all around the patio.

I ordered the unpictured fish and chips.  They were really good and if you’re wondering about that awesome plan I had to track everything while were out of town. Yeah, that didn’t happen.  After dinner, we went inside to check out the band and the Irish dancers.

We had intentions of checking out a few other places in the Downtown Disney area, but we ended up staying at Raglan Road all evening.  The next morning, I was feeling less than great.  We stopped for lunch on the way home and I had the most amazing burger.  I don’t even want to know how many points it was but it did make me feel better.  (I left most of the fries)

We arrived back home around 2pm and the only thing on my mind was a nap.  I laid down for awhile but we had already made plans back in November to watch the Super Bowl at the Ale House with our friends.  So, before I knew it, it was time to get ready and leave the house again.

My friend Morgan baked cupcakes for me so of course I had to have one.

I had to work the next day, so I don’t think I got my $50 worth but I had a good time.

I told Dane if we would’ve watched the game at home, I probably wouldn’t have made it to halftime.  :)  We got home right after 11:00pm and I was sound asleep within minutes.

So, despite all of the early celebrations, yesterday was my official birthday.  My day started off with this beautiful sunrise.

When I got to work, I found my desk decorated for the occasion.

IMG_0987

My friend Jill got me some pens (because I have a bit of a pen problem) and silly putty!  The putty kept me entertained the whole day.

IMG_0985

She also got me a Dunkin Donuts gift card!

Whenever we have a birthday within our department, we all go out to lunch as a group.  I chose a restaurant called Yummy for sushi.

IMG_0991

It was delicious.  When I got home from work, I found these flowers from Dane.  He said they looked better before the cats decided to have their way with them.  ;)

IMG_0993

We decided to stay home for dinner.  Dane made salmon, polenta and asparagus.  Yum!

So, yeah..now I’m 38 and I think we sufficiently celebrated.  Although, I am having my birthday dinner with my friend Kim tonight.  :)

Looks like you had a really nice birthday weekend and day/night yesterday! Dang, that walrus is huge!! LOL

It’s 5:30 in the morning and my mouth is already watering seeing your food pics! Especially the burger and chocolate cupcake! The salmon from last night looks yummy too, I think we’re having salmon tonight! I still haven’t tried polenta…..what does it taste like?

Happy birthday!! What a great way to spend it. I went to Sea World in California when I was a kid. I think I was about 7 or 8 and I distinctly remember the killer whale show AND I got a toy whale to take home. I need to do it again as an adult. :)
