Reining it in

Now that I’ve got the go-ahead to resume working out, I really want to focus on improving my eating habits.  Before Monday, I wasn’t tracking anything which usually led to unhealthy choices or portions that were way too big.  When I eat that way, I feel like I’m constantly hungry and I don’t crave anything but junk.

Yesterday morning I brought a couple of hard boiled eggs to work.

I also brought some Corn Chex.  I just ate them out of this container without any milk.

For lunch, I had leftover Tofu and Veggie Pad Thai from Monday nights dinner.  Dane and I had plans to go grocery shopping when I got home from work on Monday but I ended up driving through torrential rain and tornado warnings which resulted in several accidents.  It took me 2 hours to get home after my doctor appointment.  All of that to say, we decided to go out for dinner instead of going grocery shopping.  We went to a Thai restaurant close to our house.

I had half of that for lunch.

Immediately after lunch, I was craving something sweet.  Instead of getting a Snickers bar out of the vending machine, I had some Extra Strawberry Shortcake gum.  It actually did the trick.

Dane had a softball game at 6:30.  I usually go with him, but when I got home from work, I didn’t feel like going back out.  I’ve been wanting to make some baked oatmeal recently, so I decided to give this recipe a try.

It turned out pretty good.  I baked it for 35 minutes instead of 30 minutes and I think it could have gone for even a few more.

I didn’t think Dane would want baked oatmeal for dinner, so I decided try the mix of quinoa and brown rice we bought recently.

I added some shrimp and veggies and called it a meal.

Both cats were eyeing my food the entire time I ate.  Do your cats beg like dogs?

We really do feed them.  :)

It’s so supposed to be a very rainy day here in Florida.  Happy Hump Day and did you realize it’s 12/12/12?  :)

I have a Cookie Exchange Luncheon with some of the ladies I work with on Friday.  I have to bring 2 1/2 dozen cookies and I’m still not sure what kind I’m going to make.  I’d like to do something different and festive.  Any ideas?

Do you watch the show Parenthood?  It’s been a sad season but tears were literally streaming down my face during the last night’s episode!

Yes 12/12/12 is Aaron Rodgers Day! (Had to get that plug in from a Packer fan…)

Anyway, I’ve tried that baked oatmeal recipe, too and have loved it.

My husband loves the key lime pie and root beer float gum. Pretty cool stuff. ;-)

    Cheers~
