Christmas Treats

Good Morning!   This is my first day back to work after being off for 11 days due to Thanksgiving and my surgery.  Time to get back into a routine and I’d like to get back into the habit of regular posting again, too.

I have a Cookie Exchange Luncheon with the girls at work in less than 2 weeks.  Normally we do an Ornament Exchange Luncheon but this year we’ve decided to switch things up a little.  Here’s my post from last years lunch.

In the last year, I’ve gotten into baking a lot more but I’m still not sure what cookies I’m going to bake.  I decided to try a few things out yesterday.  First up was Seven Layer Magic Cookie Bars – you can find the recipe here.  Please note, these are in no way healthy.

These were very easy to make.  Here they are before they went into the oven.

And here they are after.

Like I said, they’re not healthy and as Dane says, “They don’t suck.”

When Dane’s parents came for Christmas last year, his Mom had a tin of pretzels topped with a Hershey’s Kiss and an M&M.  Seems pretty simple, but I just  loved the combination of sweet and salty!  I found this post on how to make them.

Super easy.  Start by lining up your pretzels on a cookie sheet.

Then top every pretzel with a Hershey’s Kiss.

I decided to try the Peppermint Hershey’s Kisses but I wouldn’t recommend using them because they didn’t melt like the chocolate ones.

Once all of your pretzels have been kissed :) you bake them in a 225 degree oven for 3 minutes.  That’s it.  You want them to still have their shape but be slightly melted.  Remove them from the oven and top each kiss with an M&M.

I will definitely be making more of these in the next few weeks.

Since I was a little girl, one of my favorite cookies has always been the Peanut Butter Blossom.  I’ve never made them before, so I had to give it try.  I followed the recipe on this post.

These were also very easy to make and just as delicious as I remember.

Everything I made was really good.  Now to give some of it away so I don’t eat them all.  :)

For dinner, we roasted some asparagus, cherry tomatoes, onions & mushrooms.  I added the veggies to a small amount of sauce, spinach spaghetti and served it with some Mahi Mahi.

That was actually a pretty big piece of fish, so I didn’t even eat it all.

Time to start my day – wish me luck!

Do you have a favorite Christmas cookie/treat?

My in-laws make these popcorn balls that I crave every year around this time. I always treat myself to at least one when we visit. Yum!
