Hi there and Happy December! Wow, this year seriously went by in a flash!
I spent the week recovering from my surgery on Monday and am feeling much better. My incisions are healing very nicely and the pain is subsiding more and more every day. Tuesday and Wednesday were probably the worst days. Every time I stood up, it felt like everything was going to fall out of my bellybutton. :) My doctor encouraged me to get up and move around as much as I could, so we ventured out of the house on Thursday afternoon. We went to my favorite restaurant Lulu’s and I had my favorite salad – the Caribbean Salmon Salad.
After lunch, we walked around Big Lots for awhile. After that, I was exhausted and feeling sore, so we came home and laid down for awhile.
On Friday afternoon, Dane and I took his Grandma to lunch. They allowed me to pick the place. I use to love Red Lobster and haven’t been there in long time, so that’s what I picked. I knew Dane wasn’t thrilled about it but he agreed. As soon as we walked in, there was a very foul smell. Dane thought it was coming from the tank of lobsters. For a split second, I thought about walking right back out, but we were seated and the smell seemed to subside.
I didn’t take any pictures but I ordered the snow crab legs along with a Caesar salad. The salad was very soggy, so I only ate half of it and the crab legs were actually pretty good. Overall, we weren’t very impressed with our meals, so I don’t think we’ll be going back. Whenever I’ve mentioned Red Lobster in the past, Dane always argued that there are better places to get seafood in Florida, so as he reads this I’m sure he’s thinking..I told you so. :)
This morning I woke up unsure if I was going to my Weight Watchers meeting or not. I didn’t go last Saturday after Thanksgiving and my list of excuses this morning looked like this:
- I’m still swollen from surgery.
- I’m still bloated with gas from surgery.
- I have TOM.
Despite all of the excuses I came up with, I decided I needed to go to start the month off on the right foot.
Previous weigh in: 175.8
This week’s weigh in: 174.8
Change: – 1 lb
I will definitely take a 1 lb loss. My goal for December is to not gain any weight. There will be a lot of tempting treats at the office throughout the month, so it will be up to me to say “no.”
When I got home from my meeting, Dane made breakfast. I asked for some scrambled eggs and potatoes.
When I’m in my normal routine, it’s not unlike me to eat something every couple of hours. This afternoon I ended up taking a nap, so Dane took it upon himself to use some of the veggies in the fridge and made a homemade Veggie Pot Pie. I woke up to amazing smells coming from the kitchen and I told Dane this tasted just as good as it smelled. He ended up using potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, zucchini, onions, green beans and peas. The biscuits were made with Heart Healthy Bisquick.
I’ve always been jealous of his ability to throw a bunch of things in a pot and have it turn out amazing because I’m a boring ‘ol recipe follower. :)
Now we’re watching the SEC Championship game and enjoying the Christmas lights. One more day off before I go back to work. I’m going to miss my afternoon naps with my snuggle buddy.
