Good Morning and Happy Sunday! I got up early this morning because my cats wouldn’t leave me alone to watch the men’s marathon. All I have to say is, Wow! Absolutely amazing how fast they run. In case you DVR’d it, I won’t give anything else away.
Last night we went out to celebrate my sister’s birthday. Her actual birthday was July 27, but she was out of town that weekend and then she had braces put on, so this weekend she can finally chew her food. ;) She loves crab legs, so we decided to check out the new Joe’s Crab Shack that opened up on the beach recently.
When we put our name in, we were told it would be an hour and a half wait. The greeter at the door actually had an iPad (very high tech). I gave him my name and cell phone number and he said they would send me a text message when our table was available. Pretty cool. In the meantime, we headed up to the roof where there was a couple of different bars and plenty of tables overlooking the ocean. On our way up the stairs, I received a test text message letting me know that they had my number and I’d be hearing from them soon.
We found a table upstairs and saw the clouds rolling in. It’s been storming like clockwork in the late afternoon/early evening lately.
It didn’t take long for it to start raining, so we moved to the inside bar upstairs. It had been and hour and half and I still didn’t receive a text message, so my sister went down to the restaurant to check on our table. Turns out they didn’t have my name on the list and didn’t even have my phone number. Not sure how that was possible, since I received the test text message. They blamed it on the crazy weather and assured us they would seat us immediately.
We had a seat at the back of the restaurant right along the ocean. The rain stopped and a double rainbow appeared.
It was extremely busy, very loud and there were a ton of kids. Definitely more of a tourist attraction. Our server was really nice but we could tell he was running around like crazy. We ordered our meals right away and he warned us that it could take about 40 minutes for our food. We assumed it would take awhile, so no big deal. Plenty of time to take pictures! :)
This is my sister Tanya (the birthday girl) and me.
My sister Casey and me. (a little fuzzy)
This is my favorite picture of Dane and me. George (Tanya’s boyfriend) made us laugh right as he snapped the pic.
Our server came back and gave a bib to everyone that was having crab.
I ordered a house salad with strawberry vinaigrette dressing, so that came out before the rest of the food.
Along with my salad, I ordered 12 peel and eat shrimp. I waited a really long time for them. So long that some people at the table were already done with their meal by the time they arrived. Our server blamed the kitchen but I have a feeling he forgot to put them in.
2 other people had to wait a little bit longer for their meals and my sister Casey’s food was cold when she received it. We understood that it was really busy but the service was definitely lacking. My shrimp were taken off the bill at least.
We all agreed that we were glad we checked it out, but we probably wouldn’t be back. Here’s the night time view of the boardwalk as we walked out of Joe’s.
We ended up stopping for froyo before going home. Of course.
Another night of no drinking for me. I thought I might have a glass of wine with dinner, but I decided not to.
We didn’t do our weekly grocery shopping yesterday, so we have to do that today along with laundry. Fun stuff.
Will you be watching the Olympic closing ceremonies tonight?
