Need to get moving

I was having a conversation with my friend Krista yesterday about wanting to kick butt for the next month.  I’d really like to take the clothes she gave me recently on my cruise next month.  She asked me where I thought I was struggling and my answer was, working out.  Even though, I feel like my eating is under control right now, I know I really need to focus on burning calories as well.  Being sick for more than 3 weeks last month along with my thyroid problems haven’t helped, but I’ve definitely been a lot more lazy than I was.

I’m actually going to my doctor’s office this afternoon to have my thyroid levels checked again.  I’ve been on a higher dosage for 4 weeks now, so we’ll see if it’s made a difference.  I don’t feel like anything has changed, but what do I know?  ;)

Before I left for work yesterday, Dane asked what I wanted to do for dinner.  I didn’t have an answer but we agreed that we would do something with chicken.  He ended up making the chicken in a red wine sauce with onions, peppers, mushrooms and carrots.  We served it with quinoa and sugar snap peas.  It was SO good!

I know it looks like beef, but I promise it’s chicken.  :)

I hopped on the treadmill after dinner to do Week 2 Day 2 of Ease into 5k.  I finished and was about to walk out of the room with my laptop, phone and water when I dropped my phone…in a bowl of water!!  Dane has been doing work around the house during the day, so in order to keep the cats away he puts them in the room where the treadmill is.  He was nice and left them a bowl of water.  Of course, I was carrying way too many things like I always do.  The phone turns on but it was acting funny, so it’s currently sitting in bag of rice.  I’ve been wanting an iPhone (I have an EVO) but I’m not eligible for an upgrade yet, so I’m really hoping it comes back to life for awhile.

Being upset about my phone and having calories to spare meant that I was definitely having dessert.

1/2 cup vanilla frozen yogurt
1/4 cup strawberries
1 crumbled Banana Zucchini Chia Seed Muffin

Someone loves to snuggle with Dane lately.

Have a great Friday Eve!  The weekend is almost here.  :)

Total calories for the day – 1,241

Have you ever dropped your phone in water or any other liquid?

I’ve been struggling with getting back to my routine. Routine works for me. AS is obvious by the gain I’m facing this week, being off routine doesn’t work. I went on vacation for about 8-9 days and came back and had a birthday…so the scale will NOT be kind this week. Even though I exercised every day of vacation except one I drank alcohol every day of my vacation and every day I’ve been back. I’m still in vacation mode and I have to get out of it quick!

And yes, I dropped a previous phone into a toilet. Needless to say I don’t bring my phone anywhere near a bathroom anymore.

It’s crazy how hard it is to get back into a routine once you’ve been out of it. Let’s get back to it! I’m starting a weight loss challenge on Monday. You can find a link to it on my Facebook page.

I love how you improvised on dessert! I would have never thought of crumbling up a muffin like that. Genius!

Hi Tasha – he usually just throws a bunch of stuff in a pot and it turns out delicious but I just asked him and he said -

Cut the chicken into cubes and brown it in a little bit of olive oil. Add onions, sauce and simmer for an hour. Then he added mushrooms, carrots and peppers and simmered for another 30 minutes.

The sauce was made using 1/2 cup red wine, 1/2 cup chicken stock, thyme, sage, 1 tbsp corn starch, 1 tbsp tomato paste (to thicken)
