Thursday Weigh In

I’ve been jumping on the scale every morning this week to find the number staring back at me – not so pretty. (I know I shouldn’t weigh every day)  Today’s official weigh in = 172.8 ~ Up 2 lbs exactly.  Normally, I would be really upset to see that number, but since I’m just getting back in the groove, I’m not going to freak out about it.  You’re welcome.  Remember when I thought gaining .6 was the end of the world?  I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately, so instead of adding more negative thoughts, I’m going to try to think positive.  Making excuses doesn’t get me anywhere and I’m well aware of what I need to do.  I will see a good loss next week.

Remember when I said I was going to write everything I eat in my journal?  Well, I have been but I’m finding myself doing double the work.  I’m have to go to MyFitnessPal to look up the calories, so really I’m tracking twice, which is time consuming and unnecessary.  I think it’s back to online tracking for me, especially since the app on my phone makes it even more convenient.  Come back tomorrow, I’m sure I will have changed my mind again.  ;)

When I walked out of work yesterday, I was so happy to see this.

Blue sky!  We haven’t seen the sun since last week some time, so this instantly put me in a better mood. For the second day in a row, I went straight to the gym.  I did 15 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes on the bike.  I brought my Kindle with me and the time flew by!  Not sure if I even want to attempt reading while running on the treadmill but it worked out well with the other cardio equipment.

Breakfast
I know you’re going to be shocked to hear that I had overnight oats for breakfast.  To change things up a little, I added some shredded coconut and a few chocolate chips/peanut butter chips.

Lunch was leftover Turkey Chili.

For an afternoon snack, I had some carrots and hummus.

Dinner after the gym was a Buffalo Chicken Salad.  Always one of my favorites.

After dinner, Dane and I had to run to Wal Mart for a few things.  On the way home, he asked if I wanted to stop for frozen yogurt and I said no!  I love froyo, so that was a pretty big NSV for me.  I’ve been surprisingly content with not munching on anything after dinner the last 2 nights.

My plan is to do a walk/run outside in the crazy heat and humidity after work today.  Have a great Friday Eve!

Do you crave something sweet after dinner?  Are you an evening snacker?

How did your weigh in go this week?

I’ve become an evening snacker since I got married. The husband works strange shifts and sometimes to accommodate his work schedule we’ll eat dinner a little on the early side which leaves me snackish later in the evening.

I know what you mean..if my boyfriend has a later softball game, I’ll eat earlier than normal and then I’m always looking for something to snack on before bed.

kudos to you on not letting the gain get you down, you’re seeing the whole picture & that is so important!!

PS a HUGE bravo to you on passing up froyo…that is no easy feat! :)

I am definately an evening snacker and sweets are my craving. I have been using fruit to satisfy my sweet tooth, which is helping. I only weigh myself once a week, otherwise the weight makes me crazy. Hang in there as you get back in the groove. You have the right attitude, not making yourself nuts over the hiccups when getting back to a routine.

I try do fruit as well, but sometimes I have an insane craving for chocolate. I know the less I eat, the less I will crave it.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I actually had to hide my scale and won’t bring it out until my weekly weigh-in on Saturdays. It’s hard tracking calories, would be nice to have a central location to do all this. If you know of one let me know :) I’ve been using MyfitnessPal.

I am an after dinner snacker! I can normally eat a nice dinner and have my cake/dessert right awards. Lately I’ve been skipping that or I eat 100 calorie ice cream sandwiches.

Remember if you’re working out… muscles do weight more than fat. :)

    Keep up the good work.

I require something sweet at night. Giving it up is not an option – seriously the only thing that gets me through the day. I guess I don’t consider it a snack because I plan for it. I would rather each just vegetables for dinner than give up my dessert. Hehehe.

I also only weighed myself meetings before I was prego. I tried not to think about the number on the scale as much as the fact that I was successful at continuing a healthy non-binge eating lifestyle – I know – easier said than done.

    Love the positive attitude!

You’re absolutely right about being successful at living a healthier lifestyle. For some reason “that number” still creeps it’s way in. :)

Sounds like you are doing great! Saying no to froyo would be VERY hard. All I want to eat when it’s hot is froyo!

I have a sweet tooth, big time. I usually keep an extra dark chocolate bar stashed somewhere. I eat a couple teeny squares nearly every day. :)

I used to keep some dark chocolate kisses in the fridge. I was pretty good at only having a couple of them a day. I should do that again. :)

Praise The Lord..I am not a nighttime snacker!! I don’t need that on top of all my other hang-ups! I read somewhere that having a healthy high protein dairy snack before bed was good for healing and metabolism (cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese) I tried it but just couldnt get into snacking at night. Now, 3-5pm is a WHOLE different story!!!
